Mr. Mayor of the Commune of Pico Mr. Mayor of the Commune of Island of the Liri Mr. Mayor of the Commune of Sora The Mayor's intervention 28/05/2004 Kind guests Dear fellow citizens, “Harvest of poetries” It is I motivate of great satisfaction to find me with you this evening to make party to Don Domenico you Fit with iron, our fellow citizen that from June 26 th 1966 it is the last native priest of Pescosolido. They are almost 38 years that Don Domenico is a priest, rather it is priest until in the more depth of his/her human being, so much that is impossible to think about Don Domenico if not as priest. It is not the case to refer the road served as the priest Don Domenico, because it is known, not only to the most elderly people, but also to the young ones. I think that I/you/he/she am the case however to see the figure of Don Domenico priest from which it appears, as in a transfiguration, the Don Domenico poet. You, we am culturally here for a remarkable event as it is that of the presentation of a harvest of poetries. It is not possible however to separate the aspect of the culture from that of the life of Don Domenico. Others after me and more expert of me will enter the alive one of the poetic one of Don Domenico, I would timidly like to lift an edge of the veil and to peer at something of the internal world that is the humus than you/he/she is offered in the harvest there. There and an element that he/she jumps evident in all the poetries, his/her root in the tide of love that departs from far. I don't disclose any secret if I affirm that the coordinates of the life of Don Domenico, two have been: the first one is the call to be priest, and the second is the discovery of the work of Maria in other words of the Movement of the Hearths. The characteristic intonation "focolarina" is a constant in the whole work of Don Domenico, it is its soul, his everything. A man with a great passion for the universal fraternity; For long time, Don Domenico, is spent to Island of the Liri for the ecumenical dialogue among Catholics and evangelical for forced years to the isolation and the mutual distrust. Catholics and evangelical that also recognizing himself/herself/itself in the figure of Christ for years you/they have lived separated by an iron enclosure that only Don Domenico has succeeded in opening. A historical fact, that I don't want to mention for honoring the work of Don Domenico, whether to stimulate the meeting to reflect on the ability of each to know how to change the fates of our people of our communities. Don Domenico, thanks to the great love that nourishes for Chiara Lubich, you/he/she has known how to spend all of his/her pastoral mission and priest for the unity of the Christians to start from those to him more neighbors, up to touch the whole surrounding community. Thanks Don Domenico, therefore, not only for your artistic and poetic contribution, thanks for the great work that you have built and you want to make to still grow. Your passion for the poetry is spontaneous, it is the fruit of your great love for what it is beautiful, and we know all, that the Beauty of the being is reassumed only in God. I have had the opportunity of knowing Chiara. Also me from when I have known her I am experimenting the Beauty of the love for the other to start from the next neighbors. Only if we keep in mind this source, can try to drink to the crystalline waters that from there they flow, or, if you prefer, we can warm up to the hot flashes of fire that emanate from its contact with the divine love. This I have noticed in the work of Don Domenico, his/her passion for the grace of God, his/her infatuation for the beauty of the Madonna, his/her search of all the beautiful things that you/they approach us to the world of God. We enjoy then of this spiritual wealth that is lavished and we thank God to have created so many beautiful and good things for our happiness, and we thank Don Domenico that you/he/she has made her taste in so intimate and exciting way. A last indication on the cultural aspect. The adhesion to God of which Don Domenico there from a living example, it is not only an affective attitude, deprived of content, but it is also a thought, a way of seeing the universe, a way of enjoying the universe. To gather the conformity of his/her own thought with the creative word of God means to enter more and more the trinitarian intimacy from a side, and to bring in the flow of the human history the reflexes of that shine of truth of which the man is always thirsty researcher. Has Don Domenico succeeded with his/her life and with his/her work to it stuffed to glimpse that divine world? You, for his/her part, and this means progress and refinement of the true culture.
